Türkiye's solar energy capacity has surged 641-fold in the last 12 years, reaching 25,827 megawatts by the end of January 2026, according to data from the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry. This represents a significant increase from the previous year's total capacity of 40.2 megawatts. Solar power now covers 20.9 percent of the country's total installed electricity capacity, up from 0.1 percent a decade ago. The increase in capacity has led to a significant surge in electricity generation from 17 gigawatt-hours to 38,069 by the mid-20th. The Turkish government plans to invest $80 billion over the next decade to meet this goal.
