Lobster buffet: China’s tech firms feast on OpenClaw as companies race to deploy AI agents

China is rapidly embracing the popular artificial intelligence tool OpenClaw, with major tech companies and local governments expanding access to the open-source AI agent. Tencent has launched a suite of easy-to-use AI products based on OpenClAW, and Zhipu AI has launched its own local version of OpenCLaw. These moves have helped drive consumer interest in the tool, surpassing the U.S., according to American cybersecurity firm SecurityScorecard. As China's economy struggles with headwinds, the OpenClow offer an opportunity for domestic tech companies eager to attract paying users. The popularity of OpenCaw has also boosted the popularity of Chinese-developed large language models. Chinese-made AI models have increasingly narrowed the gap with their U-S. rivals, offering AI capabilities at a fraction of the price.
