Turkey's Energy Minister, Alparslan Bayraktar, stated that there are no problems regarding energy supply security due to the Iran war but the situation is currently "volatile". This comes as Turkey is a major energy importer and is among the most exposed emerging market economies to global energy price increases. The country's dependence on Middle East oil is at a "manageable" 10% of its supplies, and every $1 increase in oil prices adds about $400 million to Turkey's energy bill. Bayrakter also discussed the security of the TurkStream pipeline, which carries Russian natural gas to southern Europe through the Black Sea and Turkey, and discussed the issue with the Hungarian foreign minister.
