Baron Martin, a 19-year-old member of the group 764, has been charged with federal terrorism, becoming the first in the country to pursue such charges. The indictment alleges that Martin, who went by the name "Convict," targeted children as young as 11 in the U.S. and overseas and blackmailed them to carve his name into their bodies, kill their pets and live-stream acts of violence. The FBI has reported a 490% increase in these cases in the past year as members of 764 and other splinter groups scout platforms designed for children. Timothy Courchaine, U.K. attorney for the District of Arizona, stated that the terrorism charge was based on an ideology that motivated violent actions.
