Attorneys for Tyler Robinson, the man accused of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk in 1999, have requested a six-month delay in a preliminary hearing scheduled for May due to their need to review evidence related to DNA found on the alleged murder weapon. The hearing, which will essentially be a mini-trial of Robinson, is set to occur at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, 2025. The defense is awaiting a forensic examination of a decades-old German-made bolt-action rifle found near the scene of the shooting. They have not been able to review the ATF case file associated with the summary report, protocols related to the examination of the bullet fragment, and a secondary comparative bullet analysis by the FBI is underway.
