Gastonia man sentenced after stabbing grandfather to death

Christopher Michael Phillips was convicted of second-degree murder for stabbing his grandfather, 67-year-old Darrell Boyce Phillips, to death more than five years ago. He was sentenced to 22.5 to 28 years in prison, with about 5.5 years of time served added to the sentence. The charges were reduced from first-degree to second-level.
