The story is told by Vanessa Caswill and a female-led filmmaking team to explore the themes of motherhood and forgiveness. The filmmakers also explored the perspective of the mother of the man Kenna hurt, Grace, who wanted to protect her family from further heartbreak. The director said the lack of a traditional villain makes the story feel authentic and that all characters have some fault and faults.
