Director Inka Achté has explored the popularity of American soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful" in Finland during the country's economic downturn of the early 1990s. She used research to understand the phenomenon and found real-life fans who had grown up with the show. Despite financial restrictions limiting the film's budget, she focused on the people who cared about the show and its actors. The film, "Soap Fever," premieres at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival and aims to represent a more collective expression of human connection than remakes and sequels. Aché also highlighted the need for a collective expression during times of crisis, which she misses due to technological advancements.
