Los Angeles dog owner, Jenifer Dorhoutmees, has spoken out after her dog, Uni, was rushed to hospital after allegedly ingesting methamphetamine during a walk at North Hollywood Park. The incident occurred within minutes of Uni throwing up, having diarrhea, acting lethargic, excessive drooling, and her gums were white. After testing, veterinarians identified Uni as a positive for methamphetamine and she was transferred to a 24-hour animal hospital where she was monitored and placed on IV fluids. Additional complications included low blood pressure, elevated liver enzymes and issues with blood clotting. Experts warn that such incidents highlight a growing concern for pet owners in urban areas due to increased drug use.
