The referendum, which could help Democrats gain four more House seats, was part of an effort to counterbalance mid-cycle redistricting attempts occurring in GOP-led states. Jeffries praised the vote as a "crystal-clear voice" and pledged to "aggressively target" eight Florida House seats currently held by Republicans. The state is seen as the last opportunity to gain additional seats ahead of November's midterms.
