Japan Pushes for a New Global Stage as Film Frontier Makes Its Debut at Hong Kong Market

The Hong Kong — Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) is set to host its 24th edition and 30th Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FilMart). For the first time, a dedicated Japanese section, Film Frontier, will place emerging Japanese filmmakers directly in HAF’s project market. The initiative was introduced by HKIFF Industry in collaboration with the Japan Creator Support Fund to address the issue of visibility for Japanese filmmakers. Film Frontier aims to empower promising young Japanese filmmakers to develop their creative work and build a global network to sustain their careers beyond a single film. Additionally, Japan is significant in the HAF's main In-Development Project strand, with four projects with Japanese involvement in selection.
