The New York Times has published an investigation suggesting that British cryptographer Adam Back, who invented Hashcash, is the most likely person behind the Satoshi Nakamoto pseudonym used by Bitcoin's creator. The investigation was conducted by French-American investigative journalist John Carreyrou, who claims that Back actively discussed electronic cash for years before Bitcoin (BTC) emerged, only to reappear after Satoshi disappeared. The report also highlighted similarities between Back's writing style and that he was one of only two people to write "partial pre-image" and discuss "burning the money" for digital coins.
