Crews make finishing touches on Jackson Memorial Hospital’s new emergency room

The $400 million expansion of Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami is being completed. The new adult emergency room will feature over 200 patient rooms, doubling the hospital's current capacity and making it one of the largest emergency departments in the country. Jackson Health System President David Zambrana shared a preview of the new facility with 7News. He said the added space and restructured layout will allow for more efficient patient response times. The hospital's goal is to make it a one-stop shop for treatment and a seamless flow for improved efficiency. The first patients will arrive on April 23. The remaining expansion is expected to be completed in 2027.
