Egypt's trade deficit reached $4.9 billion in December 2025, an increase of 12.2 percent, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The value of exports rose by 6.8 percent to reach $5.6 billion, a rise from $5 billion the previous year. Exports were mainly driven by higher exports of several commodities, including ready-made garments, fresh fruits, food preparations and various edible products. However, several other goods, including petroleum products, fell by 11.2% and pharmaceutical products, decreased by 0.2%. The value for imports increased by 9.6% to $9.5 billion in 2025, compared to $8.7 billion the year before.
