Lukas Caldwell, now 22, was diagnosed with Parry-Romberg Syndrome (PRS), a rare autoimmune disorder that gradually destroys soft tissue on one side of the face. The disorder, which affects roughly one in 250,000 people, causes painful cramps and a visibly altered appearance throughout his life. Despite the physical challenges, Lukas managed to overcome social anxiety and self-defending self-confidence, which he credits to his family's strong support and dedication. Following extensive care, LukAS underwent several surgeries, including a free flap transplant, which left him unable to eat or speak for weeks and left him with severe swelling and a large scar. Despite these surgeries, he still experiences weakness in his left leg, affecting basketball and weightlifting.
