Disabling hearing loss also affects babies and children, expert says

World Hearing Day is a day to raise awareness about the effects of noise-induced hearing loss on babies and children, with experts from The American Speech–Language–Hearing Association stating that two out of every 1,000 newborns in the US and about 15% of children aged 12 to 19 suffer from hearing loss. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests promoting safe listening habits and adequate hearing protection. Early identification and treatment of these cases is crucial to prevent long-term impacts on development, education, and future opportunities.
