William Michael Haslach, a former employee of two east metro school districts, has pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted production of child pornography and producing an obscene visual representation of child sexual abuse. He admitted to secretly taking photos of at least 91 students and creating nearly 700 depictions of them engaging in sexually explicit conduct using artificial intelligence (AI). Despite this, he faces up to 17½ years in prison and is being held in federal custody pending sentencing. He also admitted to creating 690 “morphed images” using his AI morphing scheme. The charges against him were dismissed after he was indicted in federal court in February 2025.
