The Season 3 premiere of Euphoria, the show's third and possibly final season, was a tense episode following a four-year hiatus. The episode opened with Rue, now in her early 20s, completing a drug run across the Mexican border and working for Laurie (Martha Kelly) as a drug mule to pay off her debt. Rue now owes over $43 million to Laurie, who will settle for $100,000 as repayment for the $10,000 worth of drugs Rue's mom had flushed down the toilet in Season 2. The creator, writer, and executive producer Sam Levinson, said the season is intended to embody themes of "good and evil, freedom, and its consequences" and he wanted to do something different from the first two seasons. However, questions remain about the relationship between Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) and Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Maddy, who are currently engaged in a love triangle, and whether their relationship will be reconciled or resolved.
