T-Mobile is reducing a longtime customer perk, free in-flight Wi-Fi on some flights and airlines, due to increased customer losses. The move is part of a larger series of changes to its customer perks and benefits, including charging a monthly fee of $3 for its Apple TV “On Us” perk. This change officially took effect on Jan. 1. T-Mobile also reduced the number of times a single promotion can be applied to an account from four to two, and most of the company’s free phone lines are no longer eligible for device promotions. The airline industry has evolved with airlines expanding free Wi-FI through their own loyalty programs, citing American and United. The change comes as T-mobile has expanded its airline Wi-fi to United Airlines flights in 2022 and American Airlines has begun offering high-speed in-class Wi-AF on most domestic and select international flights.
