‘I never knew my father’: Avichai Ayubi on loss, Israel’s orphaned generation, and moving forward

Avichai Ayubi, son of Efraim Ayubi who was murdered by terrorists near Hebron in 1993, was born five months after his father's death. Despite this, Avichai's father's presence has played a significant role in his life. His mother raised five children and they all married and moved to Gush Katif in the Gaza Strip to establish Kfar Darom. Avicha has four children and has been able to meet his own children. There are estimated 35,000 orphans in Israel who have lost one or both their parents before the age of 18.
