Apple's AirTag enabled German police to recover a stolen bicycle with a sleeping child, turning it into a tracked target. The incident occurred when parents left their four-year-old son asleep in a bicycle trailer outside a shop. Police launched a large search and found the bicycle at a nearby DIY store. The suspect, who was reportedly intoxicated and mentally unstable, was detained. Despite this, Apple has implemented anti-stalking safeguards to prevent misuse of the AirTag. The AirTag, initially marketed as a personal item tracker, has proven useful as an informal safety tool in emergencies and has led to recoveries like locating a missing child and recovering stolen vehicles.
