Luna lays into Senate over SAVE Act inaction

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida) has criticised her Senate Republican colleagues for failing to advance President Trump's Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act. The bill would require Americans to show proof of citizenship when registering to vote in the U.S. and a valid ID when casting a ballot. Despite this, Luna clarified that the time away from the chamber was not related to lawmakers' reservations over advancing the bill. Democrats in the senate have strongly opposed the bill, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer describing it as "one of the most despicable pieces of legislation I've come across" and "a despicable piece of legislation". However, some House Republicans have vowed to block all bills from the upper chamber until the legislation is passed.
