How ‘Arctic Link’ Brings the Internet to Life on an Epic Scale With Images and Sound

Ian Purnell's debut feature film, Arctic Link, will premiere in the main competition program of CPH:DOX, the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival. The film is about a remote corner of Alaska being connected to the internet, with images and sound design capturing this change. Purnll spent over a decade working on the project, which includes a ship in the Arctic Ocean, and the crew members of the ship. The director shares his personal journey to bring the internet to life in visual and audio ways, including meeting the people who build these connections. Despite the challenges of filming in a remote area without internet, PURNell credits the awareness of the changes the internet may bring.
