Tina Fritz, one of the EMTs who helped deliver the baby born on a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Portland, Ore., has shared new details about the midair birth. The baby was born on April 24 when Ashley Blair went into labor on the flight between Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Portland International Airport. Fritz and her friend, Kaarin Powell, were on the plane after a vacation in the Dominican Republic. Despite some previous reports, Fritz revealed that there were no doctors or nurses assisting with the delivery, leaving the two friends to improvise. They used blankets from passengers, a flight attendant's shoelace as a tourniquet to start an IV for Blair.
