A bill has been sent to Kansas Governor Laura Kelly's desk that would allow Kansas bars, restaurants, and liquor stores to extend their temporary 23-hour period for selling alcohol during the World Cup. The measure requires municipalities to opt in, but in Missouri, municipalities may opt out of the temporary extension. If passed, restaurants and bars in Kansas could sell alcoholic beverages from 6 a.m. to 5a.m., if their county or municipality opts in. Supporters argue this will encourage World Cup visitors to spend their money on the Kansas side of the state line.
