By January 2018, Rita persuaded Dalila to visit a public centre for eating disorders, where she was diagnosed with the illness. The centre placed Dalila on a strict meal plan and gave her regular appointments. The family's days were consumed by organising meals, buying food Dalila would eat, avoiding food she still wouldn't, and scheduling medical visits.
