N.J. scrap metal safety bill advances through General Assembly

A bill in New Jersey's General Assembly has passed that would require scrap metal recycling facilities to expand fire safety measures. The bill would require facilities to install heat detection equipment, develop fire safety plans, and limit the height of material piles to 55 feet. The measure is sponsored by Assemblyman Bill Moen, a Democrat representing Camden. EMR USA’s CEO, supports the bill, stating that the implementation of these measures will significantly help mitigate risks.
