LA County supervisor representing Altadena, California, has met with President Donald J. Trump in a secret Oval Office meeting to discuss the devastation of the Eaton Fire, which ravaged LA County 16 months ago. The meeting was a direct, candid conversation about the devastation still overwhelming our communities. According to a survey conducted by the which surveyed 2,443 wildfire survivors, over seven in 10 residents have not returned to their homes and nearly half have depleted their savings and taken on debt just to survive. The insurance system has failed them, and some banks have compounded the pain. Despite President Trump's support for helping LA County secure federal financial resources for recovery, Barger argues that congressional action is needed to address the crisis.
