Rahm Emmanuel’s Israel-Endorsed ‘Opposition’ to Israel
Published on July 18, 2026.
Former Mayor of Chicago and former Chief of Staff to Barack Obama, Rahm Emanuel, has met with top political figures in Israel to discuss his potential run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028. Emanuel, who has previously worked with the Israel Defense Forces and his father was a member of the Jewish terrorist group Irgun, is suspected to be aiming to win over a base that has turned against Israel due to its genocide in Gaza and aggressive wars in the region. Despite his criticisms of the Israeli cabinet and opposition to taxpayer-funded support for Israel's military, Emanuel later confirmed that he still wants the U.S. to sell arms to Israel. The Israel lobby and Democratic Majority for Israel praised Emanuel's speech as "thoughtful, serious" and grounded in a commitment to Israel's future security and prosperity.
