Kimberly Sullivan, a stepmother in Waterbury, Connecticut, is facing upgraded charges for holding her stepson captive for over 20 years. The charges have been upgraded from second-degree kidnapping to two counts of first-degree kidnap. A judge has ruled that the victim's medical records be unsealed and provided to both sides. Sullivan's attorney, Ioannis Kaloidis, denied any messages for her step-son, stating that she respects the law and is following it. The victim, identified as "S", freed himself 13 months ago by setting the house on fire using printer paper, hand sanitizer and a lighter.
