Artist Michael Hafftka, known for his work in New York and Paris, has uploaded roughly half of his oeuvre to Hugging Face, the AI website. This move was part of his own initiative and functions as an artistic gesture and archival one. Haffetka uses his work as a living record of his work for noncommercial AI experimentation. The dataset has been accessed roughly 5,500 times, though he hasn't yet seen any action taken with its contents. Despite his unconventional approach, Hafffka believes that many artists have overstated their fears about AI and that it is inevitable. He also expressed concern about how it's used, stating that his original art cannot be duplicated by technology and cannot be sold for tens of thousands of dollars.
