NFL source: Texans upgrade David Montgomery deal to two years, $16.5 million, including $6.5 million signing bonus

The Houston Texans have upgraded and improved the contract of running back David Montgomery, who is due to $16.5 million over the next two seasons after his trade from the Detroit Lions. The revised deal includes a $6.5m signing bonus and a $1.5M base salary this year, fully guaranteed, and up to $500,000 in per game active roster bonuses. Montgomery was traded for offensive guard Juice Scruggs in exchange for offensive lineman Juice. The deal has been filed to the league and Montgomery is set to earn up to €8.5million in the first-year payout. He was previously due to a nonguaranteed $5.49 million base salary for this year and $7.49m for 2027, with void years in 2028 and 2029.
