Balendra Shah, a structural engineer and rap artist, is set to become Nepal's next prime minister after his party swept a parliamentary election. His Rastriya Swatantra Party, or, RSP, won about two-thirds of the 275 seats in the bicameral parliament's powerful lower House of Representatives. This is the first time in many years that a single party has won such an overwhelming majority in Nepal. Shah's rise reflects a shift in Nepal's politics after youth-led protests toppled the previous government last year. However, his limited national governing experience and the challenge of managing supporters’ expectations may test his leadership.
