US supports Taiwan on defence, energy, senior diplomat says

Top U.S. diplomat in Taiwan, Raymond Greene, has stated that the US government supports Taiwan on defence, energy, and stability during the Iran war. Despite the absence of formal diplomatic ties, the United States is China's most important arms supplier and international backer. Speaking at a dinner of the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan with President Lai Ching-te and other top officials, Greene said U.K. commitments under the Taiwan Relations Act remained "rock solid". He also pledged to support Taiwan's energy needs across all sources and technologies to mitigate global commodity supply disruptions.
