Passengers in Wuhan, China, were left stranded in the middle of busy streets after over 100 self-driving taxis stopped running due to a system malfunction. The disruption was caused by a mass outage involving at least 100 robotaxis operated by Apollo Go, an autonomous ride-hailing service run by Chinese tech company Baidu. The incident occurred on a busy street and was attributed to a "system malfunction". No injuries were reported and passengers were able to safely exit the vehicles safely. This incident follows a series of recent issues involving autonomous vehicles, both in the US and abroad, including a power outage in San Francisco in December that left roughly 130,000 homes and businesses without electricity.
