John Boyega, the actor who played reformed Stormtrooper Finn in the sequel trilogy, has reportedly spoken to Lucasfilm president Dave Filoni about returning to the franchise. Filoni took over from Kathleen Kennedy as Lucasfilm's president in January 2026. Boyega voiced concerns about the portrayal of Black characters in the series and suggested that Disney should not promote them as more important than they are. If he does return, he would not be the first sequel trilogy character to do so.
