The Belgian crime drama “This is Not a Murder Mystery” featuring Surrealist artists, Dali and Magritte, was born in the Belgian surrealist minds of Belgians. The six-part 54-minute episode series is produced by Panenka, which initially received early support from Belgian public broadcaster VRT before becoming an ambitious European TV series. The series was directed by Hans Herbots and written by Christophe Dirickx & Paul Baeten. It was shot between Belgium and Ireland and completed in co-production with VRT, RTL Belgium, Proximus, the New8 broadcaster alliance (DR, NRK, NPO, RUV, SVT, YLE, ZDF, VRT) and Irish production Deadpan Pictures, in association with French powerhouse Studiocanal. After securing development funding from Flanders Audiovisual Fund, the project was developed with Elly Vervloet and secured numerous international partners. The show's success led to a successful season of Cannesseries, which is already in its 9th season.
