Apple has been granted a patent for electronic devices with breath sensing systems, suggesting that future iPhones and other Apple devices could include a breathalyzer that detects high cholesterol. The patent suggests that breath sensors could be used to detect health conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and other diseases. The breath sensor could be placed in the user's home and compared to a database to alert them of potential problems. However, using a device like the iPhone could require many more sensors, potentially including a visible light camera and/or an infrared depth sensing camera to capture images of the user’s face.
