A study conducted by researchers from the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Türkiye, Jordan, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and and Luxembourg has found that adherence to a Mediterranean-style way of living varies widely depending on location. The study also found that sleep quality, mental health, and physical activity all varied significantly between countries. Spain showed the highest overall adherence to the Mediterranean lifestyle pattern, while non-Mediterranean and North African contexts saw lower adherence. The findings suggest that living the lifestyle is influenced by sociocultural, socioeconomic, and environmental factors. The Mediterranean lifestyle reflects broader dietary habits and food access, making it a practical tool for understanding population-level health.
