House retirements hit second-most over past century

The number of retirements in the House this year is the second highest since recordkeeping began nearly a century. The total of these retirements exceeds the 52 in 2018. Of the total, 32 are Republicans and 21 are Democrats. Meanwhile, 10 senators have announced their intention to retire, making it the most significant step forward.
