The Las Vegas airport has reopened its food and essentials pantry, which helped keep essential TSA and Customs officers on the job during the government shutdown. The pantry is providing supplies to Transportation Security Administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection workers who are not being paid due to a financial stalemate in Congress over funding the Department of Homeland Security. The airport is seeking donations for high-demand items such as nonperishable food items, toiletries, hygiene products, baby supplies, household essentials and pet supplies. MGM Resorts International will be dropping meals at the airport on Wednesday morning. The longest federal government shutdown in history began on Oct. 1 and lasted 43 days, causing flight delays across the country.
