Researchers in the journal Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease Monitoring have found a link between ultra-processed food consumption and declining attention. For every 10 percent increase in calories from items like frozen meals, soda, and packaged snacks, attention scores decreased and a separate score estimating dementia risk increased. This is a significant difference from healthier diets like the Mediterranean diet, which is known for its health benefits. The study suggests that even a little bit of junk food can mitigate these effects. However, the research does not prove causation.
