Grayslake Central, the early leaders in the Northern Lake County Conference, has won five consecutive seasons and is expected to finish in first place every season. The Rams, who began their season with a 24-0 win in Florida, have outscored opponents 156-34. Their pitching has been a strong performance, with senior TJ Rodriguez pitching into the fifth inning in the Rams’ 9-1 win over Lake Forest, senior Luke Eckenstahler, and sophomore Beau Barrows being a surprise. The team's teamwide ERA is below 1.50. Additionally, junior shortstop Charlie Surowiec and senior second baseman Carson Woods have been strong defensively. The first-place Scouts have yielded two or fewer runs in eight of their 13 games, including five shutouts.
