The $325 million White Stadium deal in Boston could be effectively killed by a ban on alcohol served at the stadium. The city's 321-page lease agreement with Boston Legacy FC, the National Women's Soccer League team, allows the team to abandon the deal if the city’s Licensing Board declines to grant its application for a liquor license. The ban is part of a dispute between sponsors Ed Flynn and Julia Mejia, who argued that alcohol should not be sold during professional soccer matches and private events held at White Stadium. The team is paying over $190 million for its half of the stadium renovations, with the city's $135 million half paying for half. The Emerald Necklace Conservancy and a group of park neighbors have also argued that an alcohol ban should be banned at the facility.
