Utah Rep. Trevor Lee beaten at Davis GOP convention but keeps reelection bid alive

State Rep. Trevor Lee, who admitted to stealing money from a former employer by altering checks for higher amounts, won enough votes at the Davis County Republican Convention to keep his reelection bid alive and advance to a primary. However, Davis County Commissioner Bob Stevenson beat Lee in the delegate vote, which was too narrow to make Stevenson the outright Republican nominee for the Utah House District 16 seat. Two businessmen, Jason Walton and Trent Spafford, have accused Lee of past check fraud and abuse of power. Lee defended himself, calling the allegations a "hit job" and claimed they were taken out of context.
