New legislation introduced in the Ohio Senate would standardize paid family leave across the state. The Paid Family Leave Act, known as SB 396, would offer Ohioans up to 14 weeks of paid time off for family or personal needs, which could extend to 18 weeks. The criteria for receiving paid leave will align with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. Funding for the bill would come from a fund maintained by the state, generated from payroll contributions of about 0.4% from both employers and employees.
