Newmarket Democrat Rep. Ellen Read (D-Newmarket) has threatened Concord City Councilor Jennifer Kretovic (Councilor) with a lawsuit over a Facebook post about parking in a handicap space. The post, which did not show a visible handicap placard, prompted Read to demand an apology and threaten legal action. While Read is not disabled, she claims the placard belongs to her husband and she was picking up medication for him at the time. However, state law stipulates that handicap parking can only occur when the person being given the placarding is in the vehicle. Kretov has referred the matter to state authorities and will not comment on the underlying details.
