A Florida family has warned others about using artificial intelligence photos as a means of extortion for their dog's abduction. Lytton Cosens found his 11-year-old beagle mix, Archer, missing after returning home from a hockey game and receiving a call from someone claiming his dog had been hit by a car and needed emergency surgery. The caller demanded more than $2,700 for the procedure and requested payment through gift cards. However, the family found differences in the dog's fur pattern and discovered an X-ray included in the images was dated 2022. The family has since reunited with Archer and warned others to be cautious about scams involving manipulated or artificial intelligence-generated images.
