UNM begins introducing presidential finalists

The University of New Mexico (UNM) is introducing five finalists for its presidency, with current President Garnett Stokes set to retire in July. The first forum with finalist Elizabeth Watkins took place on Monday, with concerns about pay for graduate students and staff. One of the finalists was Dominic Oddo, a Ph.D. student whose stipend per month is just over $2,000. Staff members also want better pay and support for lower-paid workers. Joseph Lane, who will take over next month as president of the staff council, said campus safety was also a priority.
