US bans new foreign-made consumer internet routers

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has updated its list of equipment deemed not secure enough for use. This means that any new product made outside the country will need to be approved by the FCC before it can be imported, marketed, or sold in the country. The ban will also apply to companies that produce the products without disclosing their foreign investors or creating a plan to bring the manufacturing of these products to the US.
